Hi Lynne,

I have been working on one end of the smart grid technology, trying to install smart technologies for energy savings. The biggest issue with this is that on paper they sounds very good, but their are practical limitations. Following are the reasons:
1. Any control system, even a motion sensor per room is very expensive. From a home-owner type customer point of view, even with a payback period of 3-4 years, its too much investment upfront.
2. Many of our home devices have outdated technologies. To bring them in HAN, we have to install retrofits. Now, considering the life of those devices, it is not cost effective.

What are your thoughts on this ?
