Courtesy of Mike Giberson, this press release from the Michigan Customer Choice Coalition states that
“Michigan’s electric restructuring laws are the only reason why companies have increased reliability by building new generating facilities in Michigan, which is still a net importer of electricity,” said Barry Cargill, chair of the coalition and vice president, government relations at the Small Business Association of Michigan. “Michigan’s law is saving Michigan manufacturers, schools, grocers and drug stores more than $100 million a year — an amount that is still growing.
As Mike observes,
Granted, it is a press release, not a systematic program analysis,
but the Coalition is composed of lots of folks who are paying commercial
power bills so they have some credibility.
Every success story beats the ghost of the California policy failure into the oblivion it richly deserves. This is good news.
