The Bike Is Good For The Soul

Lynne Kiesling

There are few better ways to start a sunny summer Friday than an early morning bike ride on Chicago’s lakefront. Breathtakingly, stunningly gorgeous, and a great way to clear the mind for a day of thinking about complexity, dynamics, and electricity policy.

This will be a biking weekend, too, so running across this quote earlier today was apt:

“Everybody wants to know what I am on. What am I on? I’m on my bike… six hours a day. What are you on?”

Lance Armstrong

Have a great weekend!

  1. Yes. Is your house (isn’t it time for a fixer-upper report?) biking distance from Northwestern? Next week’s weather … low humidity, football temperatures (Go Huskies) promise to be perfect for a 15 minute bike commute from my place to class.

  2. Lynne — Yesterday I rode about 44 miles. Including a ride from downtown Aspen up to the Maroon Bells on a rental hybrid mountain bike.

My soul is warm and alive…my legs are mildly sore!

  3. I did that ride when we were there in May, although because of time constraints I didn’t make it all the way up to the Bells. Next time …

On Sunday we did a 35-mile ride from Evanston up to Fort Sheridan and back, and then we kayaked about 4 miles. Warm and alive soul with mildly sore legs (and shoulders) pretty much sums it up!
