First ninjas, and now the Gun Owners of America have come out fighting for “net neutrality.” PFF wordslinger Randolph May ably defends open competition against the would-be regulators with a well-aimed long blog post, “Way Off Target.”
Personal feelings aside, you do have to admit, AskaNinja is pretty funny! OK, back on subject! Net Neut stinks because it has government intervention and regulation written all over it! I’m a heavy Internet user and I want to continue to see innovation and competition and a free and open environment, not laws that are going to wind up not only costing my pocket, but costing me access to new technologies to better utilize the net!
Is there a sudden epidemic of interent users being denied access to legal websites of his/her choosing? If not, then why is this even an issue? Why search for solutions to problems that don’t even exist, especially if it means a little less freedom for all of us?
Meanwhile, proponents of NN claim they are “protecting” the internet by regulating it. Can someone explain that little gem?!
If this regulation takes place, the consumers are going to be the ones who are hurt most. Why is Google making such a big deal over this? They should be required to pay for service, just as us regular joes do.
I agree. I’m no fan of big corporations, but I’ll take my chances with what they MIGHT do over what I KNOW the government will do. Let’s keep the Internet free of regulation and trust the consumer to keep the ISPs in line.
The internet is a competitive market and it needs to stay that way. The ISPs are using their money and resources to improve services on the internet. Net Neutrality just seems like competitors trying to stop people with new technology from getting the leg up on them. Keep government out and let these companies fight it out for the consumer’s dollar.

Regulations, like cable franchise monopolies, are bad things. They just are. They lead to high costs and low growth. They should be avoided at all costs, especially when it comes to the internet.

The growth of technology and more comprehensive service will be a by-product of allowing the consumer dollar “regulate” the future of the internet. Also, I just like the idea of the “Gun Owners of America” and Alyssa Milano uniting to fight for a common cause!!
