  1. But did you bet on Beckham in the (play money) Inkling market for first MLS designative player selection?

After seeing your note yesterday, I did. 🙂

  2. Up about 5K inklings overall. Earlier I had bet on Reyna being the first under the designated player rule, so lost on that part, but also picked up on a bet against Figo.

  3. Good call but nobody will ever care about this silly league/sport. The only thing about it that interests me is their economic structure. I believe they ditched a salary cap for a free-market approach…

  4. They still have the salary cap, but each team is allowed two exceptions to the cap. That’s the “designated player rule” to which Mike referred.

And since the MLS is a single corporate entity, I am not sure that your characterization of the salary cap as not “free market” is correct. These are decisions all being made within a single firm.

  5. Since MLS is a single corporate entity intent on using a salary cap to ensure parity, I won’t bother rooting for any team since they are all just puppets of the MLS. I will view the league as I do the opera or the WWF (not often) and just enjoy the sport without the competition.
