Stupid me, what’s my favorite sport? Hockey. What happened last night? Game 7. Who arranged the Harry Potter schedule? Me. Doh!
But the highlights looked great. I was pulling for Tampa because I think they generally play a cleaner game than Calgary, and it’s great to have players like Dave Andreychuk hoist the Cup after 22 years in the League.
Nikolai Khabibulin played absolutely out of his mind in goal throughout the series (after game 1, that is). Congratulations!
Although unlike Stephen Karlson, I was rooting for Wilkes-Barre against Milwaukee. Hey, I’m from Pittsburgh, whaddaya expect?
I lived in Buffalo when Dave Andreychuck was drafted, and watched him for many years.
I’m really glad he finally helped win a Stanley Cup. He’s a good (but not great) player who as asked to carry too much weight early in his career.

I go back with the Admirals a long way, to when they were a very semi-pro team, sponsored by Admiral Electronics, playing at the Wilson Park Ice Arena, a county facility. My sentiments were with Calgary, as they were a Bob Johnson team once (three titles at Madison, the Stanley Cup finals with Calgary, a Stanley Cup at Pittsburgh, before he died, too young.)
