Hooray For Mt-blacklist!

Lynne Kiesling

Wow, it’s really empowering to look at the activity log and see all of those spam denials. I’ve installed MT-Blacklist and it’s running successfully; I’ve run into some problems in deleting the mounds of spam that had accumulated while I was moving, but it’s down to a manageable problem.

I’ve also made my blacklist available for download. It’s got about 25 additional sites beyond the master blacklist.

As of now, comments are turned back on. I will, however, turn them off of each post again after a week or so, just to ensure that the ever-evolving spam efforts don’t have ready targets here.

UPDATE: Finished, phew! Now it’s back to productive work … I’ve also incorporated Kevin Brancato’s blacklist into mine, adding over 100 sites to the list. Take that.

  1. Cool. I didn’t even know that was in the MT activity logs. I never thought to look. It’s amazing how they come from multiple IPs in a single spam attack.
